Send Down the Rain

(Jason Lee)
"Send Down the Rain"

Walking in the desert sand
The sun is on my face
My throat is dry as a bone
Lord I need a helping hand
Your mercy and Your grace
It’s time for me to change my song
I seem to have fooled
Everybody but You
But I can not live a lie
Lord I stand exposed
Revealing my soul
Time to let my demons die

Send down the rain
Let it wash over me
To bring to the surface
What’s hidden beneath
Cleanse from within
And drown all that remains
Lord send down the rain

I’ve been wearing a disguise
Pulling wool over their eyes
People see one side of me
I live one way on Sunday
And another way on Monday
I choose what others will see
Oh Lord I stand in need of help
Come save me from myself
I don’t know where else to go
But if You’ll send the rain today
There might be hope for me tomorrow
So let the cleansing healing waters flow

Send down the rain
Let it wash over me
To bring to the surface
What’s hidden beneath
Cleanse from within
And drown all that remains
Lord send down the rain

The Dance of Life

(Jason Lee)
"The Dance of Life"

I’m a man of many faces
The mask I wear is one
I’m a man of many dances
Wait – here’s another one
Metamorphosising is my very best move
Being someone else is just so easy to do

The dancing floor illuminates
And there You are again
Piercing me with loving eyes
And reaching for my hand
As I walk out to the floor
I trip and fall to my knees
But You meet me where I am and say
Follow My lead

And we dance - and we dance
Learning these steps
Is not so easy to do
Following doesn’t come natural to me
My eyes look away and then I’ll miss a move
But You stop turnaround - and You bring me new dancing shoes
And we dance

Could I have this dance
For the rest of my life
You smile and said
The choice is up to me
I think I understand
I think I realize
I think I’m finally starting to see

One foot in front of the other
Turning to and fro
Dancing the dance of life
And learning as I go

And we dance - and we dance
Learning these steps
Is not so easy to do
Following doesn’t come natural to me
My eyes look away and then I’ll miss a move
But You stop turnaround - and You bring me new dancing shoes
And we dance

What About Love

(Jason Lee)
"What About Love"

We kick ‘em when they’re up
We kick’ em when they’re down
If you can’t be like me
Get off my merry go round
Of course I’ll pray for you
As you go your own way
I hope you find God
But until you do
You can’t come round this way

What about love – what are you afraid to be
What about when they look at us
Is it Jesus that they see
What about grace – does it show in how we live
Can we tell them that we love them
If we can’t learn to forgive
Tell me what about love

Everybody loves the winners
Until the winners lose
And when the walls fall down
We put it on the front page news
Will they ever find true love
If we live hypocrisy
Don’t look with judging eyes
Will we ever realize
Love starts with you and me

What about love – what are you afraid to be
What about when they look at us
Is it Jesus that they see
What about grace – does it show in how we live
Can we tell them that we love them
If we can’t learn to forgive
Tell me what about love

What you’ve done for the least of these
You have done it unto Me
What you’ve done for the least of these
You have done it unto Me

The Road Home

(Jason Lee)
"The Road Home"

It’s never been easy to go back to where we were before
Tempted by all the things we have locked behind the closet door
One thing will never change growing always causes growing pains
We try to hide the shame but we are the only ones to blame

So help us Lord and hear our humble pleas
To deny ourselves and simply follow Thee
Let us learn to stand and to learn from the pain
But if we ever fall let us fall on Your grace

Don’t know why I stayed here cause it only left me wanting more
Now that I have been here I wonder what I was looking for
They say in the darkness you have to search for the Light to see
But here in the darkness I can see where I need to be

So help us Lord and hear our humble pleas
To deny ourselves and simply follow Thee
Let us learn to stand and to learn from the pain
But if we ever fall let us fall on Your grace

As I Am

(Jason Lee)
"As I Am"

It seems like every day I run from You
I can’t seem to remember what I know
It seems like every day You run for me
When You knew all along that I would go
So many times I’ve tried to win Your love
When all I have to do is just give up

‘Cause You love me as I am
You love me as I am
This one thing I’ll never understand
Why You love me as I am

I sometimes wonder why You even care
After all I’ve done why You’d care at all
When I turn back around Your always there
And always willing to hold me in Your arms
So many times I’ve tried to win Your love
When all I have to do is just give up

‘Cause You love me as I am
You love me as I am
This one thing I’ll never understand
Why You love me as I am

Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were a present far too small
Love so amazing so divine
Demands my soul my life my all

‘Cause You love me as I am
You love me as I am
This one thing I’ll never understand
Why You love me as I am

You love me as I am

The Abc's

(Jason Lee)
The ABC's"

Well the last day of summer came
And kindergarten rolled around
When I walked into the classroom
I had the best lookin’ teacher in town
She escorted me to my seat
And said that it was time to start
But when she started teachin’
Then I just started thinkin’
‘bout a way that I could win her heart

Well the next day she started teachin’
Another lesson to the class
And then and there I saw my chance
And I just couldn’t let it pass
I saw a flaw in her way of thinkin’
But it was clear to me
So I just started preachin’
“You need to change your teachin’
There’s a problem with your ABC’s”

And I told her, “if I could rearrange the alphabet
I’d put U and I together
O can’t U C that’s how it should be
So K-I-S-S me
And until U start correctly teachin’ ABC’s
I ain’t listenin’ to a word U say
But if U and I could be together
Everything would be A OK”

Well she must’ve been impressed with me
Cause she wanted to hold my hand
She led me down to the office and said
“Would you like to tell me that again?”
I said, “yes” to here proposal
I though I was the B.M.O.C.
So I stood up tall and proud
Stared yellin’ real loud
So the entire school could hear me

And I told her, “if I could rearrange the alphabet
I’d put U and I together
O can’t U C that’s how it should be
So K-I-S-S me
And until U start correctly teachin’ ABC’s
I ain’t listenin’ to a word U say
But if U and I could be together
Everything would be A OK”

This Man

(Jason Lee)
"This Man"

The sun goes down sooner every single day
Darkness shows its face in every single way
I can’t break free from the hold you have on me
And I can’t seem to find the man you need from Me

So tell Me what exactly do you need is My love not enough
The best things in life are free but it cost Me so much

I have given all that I can
Can you love Me just as I am
I am trying to understand
What more could you want from this Man

You keep telling Me that maybe you should go
But there’s one more thing that I would like to know
Tell me what is wrong with letting our love grow
You were made for Me and this is what I know

So tell Me what exactly do you need is My love not enough
The best things in life are free but it cost Me so much

I have given all that I can
Can you love Me just as I am
I am trying to understand
What more could you want from this Man

Mysterious Ways

(Jason Lee)
"Mysterious Ways"

Where do you turn
When there’s no place left to go
Trust your heart
Is what I have been told
But how do learn to trust
When you only find abuse
And why should I learn to love again
That’s a game I always lose
Or is it just the one thing I refuse

I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways
But this is more than I was willing to pay
And I wonder why You choose to do
The things that You do
And I wonder whose voice I hear
Is it me or is it You
I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways

I want to learn
To walk this road with grace
But I don’t think
That I’ll keep up the pace
‘Cause this is such an unfamiliar path
Maybe I should just turn and walk back
or maybe it’s the courage that I lack

I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways
But this is more than I was willing to pay
And I wonder why You choose to do
The things that You do
And I wonder whose voice I hear
Is it me or is it You
I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways

But I will try to hold on
But I don’t think I’m all that strong
But maybe this is where I belong
So will hold on
I will hold on

I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways
But this is more than I was willing to pay
And I wonder why You choose to do
The things that You do
And I wonder whose voice I hear
Is it me or is it You
I’m trying to understand Your mysterious ways

I Need You

(Jason Lee)
"I Need You"

Nothing ever changes it’s always the same
And every morning when I wake
The song remains the same
I’ve had to deal with failure
I’ve had to learn to fall
And every time I’ve tried to walk
I’ve had to learn to crawl

Will I ever get it down
Will I ever learn
Will I ever realize
I’m nothing on my own

I need You
I need You
I need You
And I don’t think
I can make it on my own
I need You

I feel the disappointments
I always feel the pain
And when I look up to the sky
I only see the rain
I’ve built a wall around me
That I can’t seem to climb
There’s no one here to take the blamce
The fault is only mine

Will I ever get it down
Will I ever learn
Will I ever realize
I’m nothing on my own

I need You
I need You
I need You
And I don’t think
I can make it on my own
I need You

The Journey

(Jason Lee)
"The Journey"

How I long for the day when I will be free
When I can run through a forest without any trees
When I can feel the sun shine on my face
When I can finally afford the free gift of grace

When my eyes can learn to look past circumstance
When my crippled feet can learn how to dance
When I can feel on my back a mighty gust of wind
When I can feel the beginning standing at the end

But until then
I’ll keep dreaming- I’ll keep seeking
I’ll keep hoping - I’ll keep knowing
I’ll keep fighting - I’ll keep trying
I’ll keep believing – I’ll keep believing
Because faith it the evidence of things unseen
And trust is trust if you know what I mean

How I long for the day when I will finally know
The times when I should stay and the times I should go
The whisper of a scream rings loudly in my ear
The silence if deafening it’s all that I hear

How I long for the heat I’m feeling oh so cold
You just follow your heart that’s what I have been told
But tell me who do you trust and when does faith begin
And tell me when do you learn to start over again

But until then
I’ll keep dreaming- I’ll keep seeking
I’ll keep hoping - I’ll keep knowing
I’ll keep fighting - I’ll keep trying
I’ll keep believing – I’ll keep believing
Because faith it the evidence of things unseen
And trust is trust if you know what I mean

Wont you show me the way

Such Love

(Jason Lee)
"Such Love"

Looking down from Heaven
Seeing the world would not believe
The Father knew just what He had to do
Giving up His one and only Son
Was the only way
To show His enless love for me and you

Never have I known such love
Never have I known such love
The love that comes from above
Never have I known such love

As the crowd mocked Him endlessly
While hanging on a cross
Save yourself if you’re the king of the Jews
Instead He suffered in agony
For our sins He paid the cost
And said forgive them for they know not what they do

Never have I known such love
Never have I known such love
The love that comes from above
Never have I known such love

And Lord I know I’ve failed You
Time and time before
But every time I’m forgiven
I understand love more
I’ve walked away from Your shelter
Time and time again
Yet You take me back
And love me as I am

Never have I known such love
Never have I known such love
The love that comes from above
Never have I known such love

Midnight Cry

(Jason Lee)
"Midnight Cry"

I hear the sound of a mighty rushing wind
And it’s closer now than it’s ever been
I can almost hear the trumpet
As Gabriel sounds the call
At the midnight cry
We’ll be going home

When Jesus steps out
On a cloud to call His children
The dead in Christ will rise
To meet Him in the air
Then those that remain
Will be quickly changed
At the midnight cry
We’ll be going home

I look all around me
I see prophecies fulfilling
Signs of the times
They’re appearing everywhere
I can almost hear the Father
As He says Son go get my children
At the midnight cry
The bride of Christ will rise

When Jesus steps out
On a cloud to call His children
The dead in Christ will rise
To meet Him in the air
Then those that remain
Will be quickly changed
At the midnight cry
We’ll be going home

And what a day that will be
When my Jesus I shall see
When I look upon His face
The One who saved me by His grace
And when He takes me by the hand
Leads me far across the land
What a day glorious day that will be

When Jesus steps out
On a cloud to call His children
The dead in Christ will rise
To meet Him in the air
Then those that remain
Will be quickly changed
At the midnight cry
We’ll be going home

If I Could Write a Song

(Jason Lee)
"If I Could Write A Song"

If I could write a song
The line you just heard
Would have been the beginning
And if I could write a song
From where I started talking
Would’ve been the place
I would’ve started singing
But if I sang the rest of the song like this
It would take 15 seconds more to say it
And that would be too long to hold the listener’s interest
And the radio would probably never play it

So from this moment on for the rest of the song
I’m gonna sing singing in the present tense
That way the words will rhyme and the music will be in time
‘Cause this is really where the verse should end

And this would be the chorus if I could write a song
And this would be the part where I drive my point home
And then the background singers
Would repeat what I just said (what he just said)
That is (that is)
If I (if he)
Could write a song (if he could write a song)

And this would be the bridge
Where I’d reiterate my point again
I’d sing with a little more soul
And everyone would say amen (amen)

And then I’d add a key change

And this would be the chorus if I could write a song
And this would be the part where I drive my point home
And then the background singers
Would repeat what I just said (what he just said)
That is (that is)
If I (if he)
Could write a song (if he could write a song)
